How Content Plays Into Building a Community

Often when discussing our Quick Start Package we get beyond the topic of content curation and talk about content marketing at a high level.

In the video Mary Charleson mentions creating a community and how that is just as important as content marketing. This is where content curation plays so well because one aspect of creating a community is giving your audience what they want.

One things we always stress is content curation is a a hybrid of content creation. If you’re not creating content along with the cited content then you’re really just aggregating content. There’s nothing wrong with that if it fits within your goals and strategy but there is a pretty big distinction.

So when focusing on building a community a combination of curation, sharing, and content creation is a winning mix.

She also makes a great point that your community is your queen- the people who share your ideas, content, and value. Content is king but without a queen on the chessboard you lack serious power.

Also, pay special attention to the anchor section of the video. This is one of the most important base strategy to have in place to monetize with content and curation.
